The Annex At the time of the area’s development, it was mostly lush countryside and quickly became home to many upper class families. In fact, the Gooderhams built their mansion at the corner of St. George and Bloor in 1889. The mansion is now home to the prestigious York Club. In addition to the Gooderham estate, an assortment of the most beautiful and original 19th-century homes of Toronto are found in the Annex. Their impressive Victorian designs feature intricate sandstone carvings and the familiar turret. Along with beautiful homes, the Annex has excellent shopping and other desirable amenities close at hand. For the discriminating shopper, Hazelton Lanes offers an exquisite experience. You will also find exclusive retail areas along Bloor Street, which feature designer stores, gourmet shops and fine restaurants.
