COMMUNITY
Moore Park came into existence over 100 years ago. It is named for John Moore, who owned and subsequently divided the land.

Moore is best known as the developer of the original railway that ran through Moore Park and now divides it from Rosedale. He built its main station in Moore Park in order to attract home buyers to the area. However, Moore lost his money in a depression that hit the city near the end of the 1800's. It wasn't until the first decade of this century that homes began to appear in the area. By the end of the Roaring Twenties, Moore Park had become a beautiful, upscale community in Central Toronto, boasting a wide variety of home styles for that period.
